Dr. Brandon Newell is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who joined the practice of Drs. Higuchi & Skinner in 2012. He graduated summa cum laude from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He then completed an internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics within the Division of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Newell completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Minnesota. His residency training included a rotation in Scotland at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary within the Division of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
While at the University of Iowa, Dr. Newell was involved in research pertaining to craniofacial genetics. He investigated genes involving cellular expression on non-syndromic cleft lip and palate. He received a National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Award for three years and he presented his research at the International Association for Dental Research Conferences.
Dr. Newell is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Newell and his wife, Dr. Heather Wade-Newell a pediatrician in the community, recently moved to the Spokane from the mid-west. Dr. Newell’s hobbies include golfing, hiking, fly-fishing, camping and seasonal skiing.
