
Dr. Daniel W. Skinner is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who joined the practice of Drs. Maxwell and Higuchi in 1997. He completed his undergraduate work in Minnesota and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
In 1993 he earned the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award for demonstrating exemplary aptitude and achievement in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The same year he was awarded the Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon. In 1997 he was presented the Merle L. Hale Graduate Research Award, given to a senior resident in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery for outstanding achievement in oral surgery research.
Dr. Skinner has been active in the Spokane District Dental Society, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Washington State Dental Association, American Dental Association, Western Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Washington State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has lectured for the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and served as a moderator at the annual meeting for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Skinner has been a member of the Operational and Invasive Procedure Committee for Valley Hospital and Medical Center since 2004.
In 2006, Dr. Skinner was appointed as an Examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has served for the last two years as Section Co-chairman and has been reappointed to the Examination Committee for the year 2011-2012.
Dr. Skinner and his wife, Rhonda, have four children and enjoy all the outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Dr. Skinner enjoys running, swimming and biking and has participated in numerous triathlons in the northwest and continues to train for upcoming events.
